Bardic Challenge Februar 2020: Eine gallische Pferdesegnung

Ritualelement: Pferde-Segnung

(Anleitung für ein Origami-Pferd / How to make an origami horse:

Epona-Anrufung:

Hufspuren im weichen Sand, mal Pferd, mal Reiterin, Epona

Hufspuren, denen wir folgen, mal Mutter, mal Kämpferin, Epona

Hufspuren in unserem Leben hast du hinterlassen, Epona

Große Teile Europas folgten einst deinem Ruf,

Kernarbeit:

Epona, göttliche Stute,

Schutzherrin der Pferde,

um deinen Segen bitten wir:

Um Gesundheit,

um Kraft,

um Fruchtbarkeit.

Keine Lähmung soll dieses Tier befallen,

keine Koliken,

keine Mauke, Hufrehe oder andere Krankheit.

Lass es stark sein,

schnell wie der Wind

und geschmeidig in der Bewegung.

Schenke ihm gesunde Nachkommen,

IN ENGLISH:

Statement of Purpose:

Since ages we humans have been relying on the strength and speed of others. Especially without the horse we wouldn‘t be able to do what we can do today. And even if horses aren‘t as important for our economy as they used to be, they are still our valued companions.

So we call to Epona, patroness of horses, today, and ask her for her blessings.

Inviting Epona:

Traces of hooves in the soft sand, sometimes horse, sometimes rider, Epona

Traces of hooves that I follow, sometimes mother, sometimes fighter, Epona

Traces of hooves in our lives you have left behind, Epona

Large parts of Europe once followed your call,

from the British Isles to the farthest regions of the Roman Empire.

And like in old times we now follow

and honour your, patroness of the horses!

Offerings:

– fold a little horse and paint it carefully, then offer it to the fire

(How to make an origami horse:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHee_GO87lU )

– If you actually own a stable, barn etc. you could set up a shrine for Epona there or make a garland from evergreens and roses (in winter paper roses will do) for the door.

Core workings:

Epona, divine mare,

patroness of horses,

we ask for your blessings:

For health,

for strength,

for fertility.

Let this animal not be paralyzed,

No colics,

mallenders, laminitis nor other illness shall affect it.

Let it be strong,

fast as he wind

and smooth in motion.

Gift it with foals in good health to continue the line

and owners who are aware of their resonsibilities.

Epona, divine mare,

under your protection we put this horse,

blessed with the waters of life (sprinkle the head)

strenghtened with apples from your cornucopia (present the horse an apple to eat)

decorated with leaves of roses in your honour. (scatter a handful of petals over the horse‘s back)

Sei kreativ!
