Prayer a Day 2018 – Dank für Kreativität

 

In English:

Thank you for creativity

It’s just a box with many Lego parts,
a wild mix from different sets.
No manual, no complete packages.
And even so they have been playing for hours now,
building, experimenting and working together.
Thank you that my children have not forgotten how to be creative on their own and let their fantasy run wild.

A person I knowl well got bad news:
A severe disease is spreading through her body.

Grannus and Asklepios,
Aušutas and all the other divine entities of healing:
Give her strength and let your powers work within her!
As this candle burns and the candlewick gets smaller,
your blessings may flow in her and speed up the healing proces!

Frau Holle, shake your cushions,
let it snow for us,
so that you snowflakes form a blanket,
white, soft and airy,
hiding all the dirt,
so that eye and mind can focus on the beautiful things in life again.

Frau Holle, shake your cushions,
let it snow for us,
so my children will make the experience
how nice it is to play in the snow,
white, soft and airy,
tho throw snowballs and build a snowman.

Prayer for a restful sleep

What a chaotic day!
Appointments that were delayed or overlapped
Unexpected news that turned everything upside down…

When I go to bed now
my head will still be full of chaos:
Thoughts and feelings,
plans and processing
won’t let me find peace.

Hypnos, you who brings sleep, I ask you:
Fill my head with silence!
Give me the relaxation and rest I need
to have a fresh start tomorrow.

In English:

Outside sunlight is sparkling on dewy grass,
glittering like little icicles.
Inside there’s music on the radio:
Ed Sheeran singing ‘Photograph’, effervescing, caressing, relaxing.
I am rattling with my pans, humming along and enjoying the moment.
Thank you, kindreds, for this moment!

In English:

A winter prayer

Winter is here!
Frost silvers the rooftops.
Frost patterns decorate the windows.
Snow covers the meadows.

Father Frost is going around the houses,
Nikolaus and Santa Clause,
the sun child and Mithras,
Odin and Frau Holle!

We build a snowman
to greet them,
to welcome them among us,
hospitality, community and gifts!

Flames dance in the open hearth,
cocoa and punch scent well in our cups,
cookies are baking in the oven.
Winter is here!

In English:

Roots and branches

I don’t need populism to tell me where I come from.
I don’t need nationalism to tell me where I belong.
I don’t need dogma’s to provide what I have to think.
I don’t have to define myself through what I am not.

I know my roots, but my branches reach far.
I define my own values and take care of my personal borders,
but they are not set in stone
because you never stop learning.
And those who believe to know everything
have just given up.

Kindreds, with you by my side
I have a whole universe to explore!
